Jakob's Restaurant on Gloucester Road and the Gloucester Road Rental Market.........

Why should we mention a restaurant on a London property blog? Well, the name keeps coming up amongst professional tenants looking for a home to rent in Kensington and Gloucester Road so I went along for a quick lunch with our South Kensington lettings manager, Richard Saltmer, to find out why.

It seems they've built quite a following among stressed and overworked city types who can't face cooking at the end of a long day and can't bear the idea of another Pizza or microwave meal from a supermarket.

In the old days tenants and buyers chose property in this part of Kensington due to it's proximity Kensington Gardens, Sainsbury's and Waitrose, and the tube at Gloucester Road. Times are changing. Being able to pop into Jacob's to pick up a last minute takeaway falafel or lasagne with a fresh carrot juice is now a deciding factor for credit crunched bankers and other city type tenants looking to rent flats near Gloucester Road in Queens Gate Gardens, Elvaston Place, Cornwall Gardens and surrounding residential streets. Food is freshly prepared every day and a quick re-heat at home or while you wait if you're eating in makes for some of the tastiest and certainly healthiest "fast food" in London. It's in the middle of a parade of local shops literally on the way home from Gloucester Road tube if you're living in this patch of Kensington.
