Property to Rent in Chelsea

Chard lettings offers flats and houses to rent in Chelsea through its South Kensington & Chelsea lettings office located at 146 Old Brompton Road, SW7 4NR - Telephone 020 7244 7711

Chelsea is an exclusive residential and shopping area located east of Lots Road and Fulham and bordered by Belgravia to the east and South Kensington and Knightsbridge to the north. Quite where the boundaries lie is as much a matter of individual residents' opinion as geographic fact. One thing is certain - Chelsea is firmly demarcated at its southern end by the River Thames.

The area is dissected by the Kings Road, which runs from the landmark Peter Jones Department Store on Sloane Square untill it becomes the New Kings Road near Worlds End and merges into Fulham - somewhere "just after" Edith Grove.

Chelsea is no longer the home of cool that it was in the 1960s through to the early 1980s. The Kings Road can seem like any other wealthy London thoroughfare - with its mid and upmarket chain store shops, including a Waitrose supermarket. Nevertheless Chelsea caters to people with money. There are numerous restaurants for "Ladies Who Lunch", especially near the trendy shopping mecca around Brompton Cross, not forgetting Bluebird on the Kings Road itself. The northe eastern edge of Chelsea where it merges into South Kensington and Knightsbridge is a fashionista's paradise.

If you are looking to rent a property in Chelsea there are apartments and houses available to let to suit most budgets.

If location - not space - is the issue, Chard regularly has small studios and one bedroom flats to rent in Chelsea Cloisters and Nell Gwynne House on Sloane Avenue, often from around 230 per week for a long let, although considerable more if rented short term - a bargain considering the location, nearby luxury hotels would scarcely offer a room for one night at the price.

Tenants looking for affordable flats to let in Chelsea will find a wide choice on streets such as Edith Grove, Redcliffe Gardens, Beaufort Street, Oakley Street, Finborough Road as well as a choice of flats "over shops" on the Kings Road and Fulham Road. Properties to let on these busier streets tend to be less expensive than those in the quieter enclaves that make up the area. Chard regularly has one bedroom flats to let in Chelsea from around 300 per week and two bedroom flats from as little as 375 per week.

These are the exceptions however, and they are located on streets that will be somewhat busier than many would prefer. The sky is the limit for more substantial flats and houses to let in Chelsea.

Ifield Road, SW10 house to let

Families can find houses to rent in Chelsea from around 750 per week - although most likely on its western fringes in SW10. Chard is currently marketing a four bedroom family house to let on Ifield Road, SW10 at 795 per week. A similarly sized house to rent on Walton Street, SW3 between Brompton Cross and Knightsbridge is likely to cost at least double this sum and often in excess of 2000 per week.

Chelsea has a numebr of mansion buildings where it's often possible to find elegant mansion flats to let. These offer space and the convenience of caretakers or porters. They also tend to be very substantially built, a bonus if you have noisy neighbours. The drawback of larger mansion flats is the lack of outside space that families with young children crave - in fact outside space of any size is rather lacking even in most Chelsea houses (you're far better off looking in Fulham, Brook Green, Holland Park and Notting Hill for that). At the time of writing Chard lettings is marketing a three bedroom mansion flat to let in Drayton Gardens, SW10 at 1,100 per week. The flat to let is on the lower ground floor with its own private terrace - ideal for smaller children to play in the fresh air or al fresco dining.

Drayton Gardens -Mansion flat to let

Tenants in search of one or two bedroom flats to rent in Chelsea will find the widest choice available from 400 - 700 per week for a one bedroom flat, and from 450to 1500 per week for two bedroom flats to rent in prime locations such as Cadogan Gardens.
