London lettings market - Brook Green "Plenty of tenants looking, few making decisions"

Our Brook Green sales and lettings branch is at 142A Shepherds Bush Road, W6

Chard's Brook Green lettings office reports that despite having plenty of prospective tenants looking at property to rent in Brook Green, very few are making decisions - for now at least.

According to Richard Coffey, lettings manager in Brook Greem, some of his negotiators are doing up to five or six solid tours a day each with prospective tenants, yet few are "biting". "Many of them are renting at the moment and haven't yet given notice", he observes. It seems like people are preparing the ground for their moves, but the economy and overall insecurity is causing people to hold back. "We've registered around 50 new applicants in the last week or so - more in fact than we'd expect even in September, but they're just testing the water".

At the same time the numbers of tenants giving notice to terminate tenancy agreements has also gone down over the last two weeks, a further sign perhaps of people "waiting and watching", before making major decisions right now.

The question on everyone's lips - what decisons are people going to be making (or forced to make?) over the coming months?
