Let your property in London and the UK and live abroad

An interesting property feature in The Times about letting your property in the UK and using the proceeds to fund a lifestyle abroad.

Chard London lettings has numerous clients who have taken this option full time, as well as others who use the income from letting their property short term to fund extended holidays abroad. One client, sadly no longer with us, spent a very enjoyable retirement with three months at a time on board her favorite cruise ship, all funded by the letting of her remarkably "up together" flat in Chelsea. Other clients have let their properties in London through us and set off sailing, usually around the Med or Caribbean, or in one case, around the world.

Of course there are pit-falls. Not least of all the sudden drop in the value of sterling vs the euro, US dollar and other world currencies. Also bear in mind that rental income is subject to UK tax.

Nevetheless, a typical three bedroom property to let in Kensington may well be worth £1000 per week. Even allowing for tax on rental property, enough to provide many people with a comfortable lifestyle in the sun.
