August - still activity in Notting Hill property market

The life of an estate agent in Notting Hill always throws up little surprises. The middle of a changeable British summer is often a quiet time especially leading up to the Notting Hill Carnival, one might expect everyone to be off sunning themselves on a beach or a yacht in the Med, however there are still buyers out there and good ones too!

We asked James Senior, a broker at Chard's Notting Hill and Kensington Estate Agents in Notting Hill Gate to tell us about his day.

August 13, 2008, Notting Hill sales

"After spending an hour on Westbourne Grove in a refurbishment project above Harlem restaurant with an applicant, two builders and a surveyor we are a step closer to finalising the details of the deal. And this is not an isolated occurrence, the early afternoon was spent with another Buy to Let investor on Ladbroke Grove, near Holland Park underground looking at a large building with ten flats in it. The day closes with a first time buyer who has her mortgage arranged and deposit in place, looking for their first flat around Portobello Road, hoping to be near one of their favourite hangouts – Electric and E&O. With a fixed budget in mind we had four properties to show her on Talbot Road, Powis Square, Arundel Gardens and on Portobello Road itself. So far the cool flat with a balcony overlooking Portobello Road is in the top two, with a second viewing on Saturday may the best property win!"
