Times are challenging, but not impossible!

Every day I am asked “How is the market? What’s happening to prices? Will my property sell?” The papers certainly have their own view which has always tended to the sensationalist rather than presenting a realistic appraisal of the situation.

From the coal face I have been found that there is a strong group of buyers who are keen and ready, but only at the right price and there are definitely sellers in the market, and more so than last year. There is still strong demand. Statistically low supply (compared to several years ago) will continue to support local prices, unlike other areas in the UK, which predominately are where the headlines are focused upon.

Property buyers in London are looking to get a good price that often tries to build in any possible future price adjustment that the papers are suggesting whilst sellers do not want to be “giving the property away!” To overcome this difference in expectations both parties have to find a mutually beneficial middle ground that brings both of these expectations together in order to get the deal agreed.
