Students looking early for property to rent in London this year

The shortage of affordable flats to let in London hasn't gone unnoticed by students. Whereas we normally expect to see students giving notice to vacate at this time of year, many are staying put and taking the "hit" for rental on the chin for the summer recess. They've seen what's out there and decided that there isn't the choice or value to compete with the flats and houses they have already.

Our Fulham lettings office has just let this flat in Fulham in Barclay Road, SW6 asking £675 per week, to mature students. They decided that as demand was likely to increase in August / September at the traditional start of the new term, supply of suitable houses to rent in Fulham was likely to dry up even further, and have taken the property from mid June onwards.
